Sankofa Communities: Embracing Yesterday, Creating Tomorrow and is intended to partner with different communities over time to address displacement and gentrification. Like the Sankofa bird that moves forward wisely, as community we must return to our past to retrieve what is valuable—lessons, wisdom, culture, memory, and ancestral knowledge—so it can guide the present and future. This dynamic model, Sankofa Communities is a threefold project and is designed to:

- 1) partner with diverse communities facing gentrification;
- 2) create collaborative partnerships within a process that encourages the community to critically question displacement; and
- 3) to gather historical content about communities while engaging them in a way that creates space for healing and transformation. The ultimate goal is to move communities in the direction of restorative justice. This project will serve as one of the many ways InterPlay Atlanta addresses the issue of displacement and gentrification.
Sankofa Communities Project – $7500. Based on 5 community days and a community workshop/performance. Fees are negotiable depending upon geography of facilitation team and other factors such has travel, food, lodge, etc.
